So here we are at EAA AirVenture, 2016 in Oshkosh Wisconsin. This has been somewhat of a pilgrimage for me. Being an aviation buff since birth, I have longed for many years to come to the largest general aviation airshow in the world. This year I finally got the chance – and it is impressive! Thousands of aircraft, constant aerial performances with rare and beautiful airplanes flown by world class pilots. It’s something to behold indeed!
xCraft is here to be part of the “Drone Pavilion” – a new area at AirVenture dedicated to this emerging industry. I wish I could say I was as awestruck by the Drone Pavilion as I am by the multitude of full size aircraft at the show – but that just isn’t the case. Vendor presence in the pavilion is sparse – only a handful of vendors, mostly peddling hobby equipment and just one other manufacturer represented. I hope that the aviation community will learn to embrace the coming drone revolution. I am encouraged by the large turnout past our booth but did wonder if it will move the needle. Can the community learn to embrace this technology that will in many ways totally transform aviation as we know it? Time will tell.
In the meantime, we’ve got some drones to peddle!
