I remember watching The Jetsons on TV as a kid and thinking, why am I not flying to soccer practice like Leroy Jetson! Traveling through the air has been my dream since childhood, which is probably why I got my pilot’s license and an Aerospace Engineering degree.
Designing and flying in airplanes wasn’t enough though. I wanted to ride in a flying vehicle that just flew itself, taking me wherever I wanted to go, above all the traffic congestion and noise on the ground.
Enter – Urban Air Mobility and eVTOLs (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft. But technology needed to catch up with the dream. Motor, battery, global positioning, electronic miniaturization and mass production has enabled this once crazy idea to finally take flight.
We’re just now beginning to see eVTOLs and the Urban Air Mobility Market materialize! Companies like Kitty Hawk, Joby Aviation, Airbus and others have all thrown their hats into the ring. It’s exciting to watch this market mature!
